The St. James Foundation hosted a Community Breakfast on Saturday October 4, 2014 at the St. James Presbyterian Church (USA). We had a wonderful breakfast buffet served to the community at no charge. A panel of local representatives including Anna Johnson from Charleston County Council, Mayor Woolsey from the Town of James Island and Dudley Gregorie from Charleston City Council, answered questions and concerns from the community. We would like to thank Alexander VanDross for his support from the SCCVP and its concern for our community and surrounding communities. Thank you to all who participated!
The Foundation is so proud to have hosted the 3rd Annual Appreciation Dinner for the Young Business Associates and the A-Plus Mentoring Program students and families from Ft. Johnson Middle School on Friday night, May 16th. We had approximately 100 attendees for dinner and the awards ceremonies were presented by the Executive Director Troy Strother, Karen Chandler, Chairman, Rev. Charles Heyward, Board of Directors and Elder Isaac Washington, Coordinator. Our Gullah style dinner was catered by Reggie Simmons which everyone so much enjoyed. Andy Westergaard, Assistant Principal at Ft. Johnson Middle School also joined the festivities. Our keynote speaker was Adrian Wilson who is the founder and owner of The Palmetto Rose Company which really gave our students insight into a starting business through an entrepreneur view. The Foundation sincerely thanks all of the support from the students, families, guardians, the school and the surrounding communities for the dedicated service through the Foundation.
